Cabo da Roca is the most western point of the European continent or, as Luís Vaz de Camões wrote, the place "Where the Earth ends and the sea begins" (in Lusíadas, Canto VIII). A standard stone with a mark signalizes this geographical particularity to everyone who visits this place. Here the visitor is confronted with a spectacular landscape, a towering lighthouse and various infrastructures.
Cabo da Roca is also called "Roca's Muzzle" by people connected to the sea, and more poetically "Promontory of the Moon". It’s integrated in the Natural Park of Sintra-Cascais, which covers a vast area of natural interest and beautiful landscape that goes from the Citadel of Cascais to the mouth of river Falcão. Starting from Cabo da Roca is possible to follow various eco-trails.
Being inserted in an easy access area and major tourist influx there are numerous people who come to visit it.
