It is one of the windiest beaches in Portugal and one of the most demanded by the surf enthusiasts, windsurfing, kite surfing and wind kites. In the 90s, the Guincho was one of the spots for the Windsurf World Cup. Today, various sport events take place at Guincho regularly, including the National Championship of Surf and Bodyboard.
It has an extensive dune system constantly changing which is divided into North Guincho and Muxaxo Guincho and as background Cabo da Roca and Sintra hills. It has a busy and dangerous sea.
This beach was made famous in the James Bond movies "At the Service of His Majesty", where James Bond saves the Teresa de Vicenzo Countess of a suicide attempt.
